Overview
Pollution liability covers cleanup costs and third-party claims from environmental contamination. Tower sites often have generators (diesel fuel), battery backup systems (lead acid), and older towers may have lead paint or asbestos-containing materials.
Why it matters for tower work
Generator fuel spills at remote tower sites, battery acid release during decommissioning, and lead paint disturbance during maintenance can all trigger environmental cleanup obligations and third-party claims that GL pollution exclusions do not cover.
MSA relevance
Required for decommissioning work and increasingly for maintenance on older tower assets. Typical requirement is $1M-$2M. May be project-specific rather than annual depending on scope.
