Self-Insured Retention
Policy TermsThe amount the insured must pay out of pocket before the insurance policy begins responding to a claim. Unlike a deductible, an SIR places the burden of claims handling and payment on the insured up to the retention amount. For tower contractors, higher SIRs can reduce premiums but require adequate cash reserves and internal claims management capability.
